  1. Thanks again to Jacques and Josh its good to know I am not alone in my uncertainties regarding this katana , also a big thank you to Mike but I'm afraid I am not in possesion of any of the mentioned books and cannot even find extracts from them online. Another small snippet I found was that the Fuyuhiro of Aki (Geishu) also had the title of Wakasa No Kami As Josh said it would be very useful if anyone out there does have one or more oshigata of 'Geishu Noju Fujiwara Fuyuhiro' . Domo arigato gozaimashita. Stevieb
  2. Hi Josh Thanks for taking the trouble to respond, after looking at your link again there are only a very few differences between the advertised sword and my own, the length shape, grain and hamon are almost exactly the same the difference is in the characters on the mei for example the far left stroke of Hiro is not joined as in the linked sword and the character Shu is more sweeping apart from that they are very similar.I am almost certain it is a Shinto blade but the nakago has been cleaned up by a former owner. Thanks again. Stevieb
  3. Hi All Thanks for your helpful responses. I'm afraid the signatures on both the Katana and Wakisashi you kindly put forward were different from eachother and different from my own but thanks for taking the trouble to respond. The search continues. Best regards Stevieb1
  4. Hi All I have recently posted a request for more information on a sword I have signed Geishu Noju Fujiwara Fuyuhiro and one of the replies I received stated there was a possibility of it being gimei, this has got me thinking as to reasons why someone would attach a signature of a lets say only reasonable quality smith, whats the point? If we look at this in relation to say cars to me its rather like putting a Mercedes badge on a Ford, why not go for Maserati,Bentley or the like. If it is gimei my Geishu Noju Fujiwara Fuyuhiro is possibly pretending to be (misguidedly) the Fuyuhiro of Wakasa who himself was hardly in the realms of Masamune or Juyo Token rated blades in any case. I would really like to have your thoughts on this. Many thanks Stevieb1
  5. Hi All I have a Katana with the mei Geishu No Ju Fuji Wara Fuyu Hiro but am at a loss as to find which Fuyuhiro this is, if anyone out there can help I would very much appreciate it. Thanks for looking/helping me in my quest. Stevieb
  6. Thank you George The search continues Apologies for the poor image, I will upload some more info with pictures of the blade itself. Stevieb1
  7. Hi its Steveb1 I have a katana which I think is signed Geishu No Ju Fujiwara Fuyu Hiro, but I cannot seem to find any information on which Fuyuhiro this is could someone confirm my translation and tell me a little more about when it was made etc. Thanks very much
  8. Hi I'm Steve and a newbie to Nihonto but I have been an interested in swords for more than 20 years. I was wondering if anyone out there could help as I have recently acquired a Katana with the mei Geishu no ju fujiwara fuyuhiro, this mei is almost an exact match for the one mentioned by Bazza looking for a translation on the 24 April 2009 with the attached image. http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/2492/hisahiro1.jpg The response from John Stuart was as follows:- 'Hi, Moses Becerra has a sword by this smith. Here is the information he provides. FUYUHIRO WAKASA NO KAMI [TENSHÔ 1573 WAKASA] SUEKOTÔ CHÛSAKU Called Takahashi Gorôzaemonnojô, he is the Fuyujurô of Keichô Tsuchinoe‑Inu (1598), and he also produced in Geishû.' My question is firstly does the mei in the image above translate as Geishu noju fujiwara fuyuhiro and secondly is this the same person therefore mentioned above. Many thanks for any responses.
