I have a katana and a tanto that I am wanting to get fresh polishes and submit to shinsa.  Some of the polishers are quoting a year or two to polish a blade.  Are there other others to complete these tasks.  Also, the tanto is in early IJN officers mounts and I am unable to remove the screw peg (cherry blossom). I tried liquid wrench, but still will not unscrew. It has a good temper line as seen through the surface scratches and a very nice solid silver habachi with mon.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Have you checked to see if it is a lefthanded screw? Or perhaps a compression fitting?
