jeremy Posted December 17, 2017 Report Posted December 17, 2017 Hey guys Wanted to know if it is possible to get a bohi cut into an existing blade. Ive been training for years with my heavy shinsakuto, now getting older and having many joint issues, I wanted to lighten the blade. I have a special attachment to this sword, and don't mind spending up to $2000 for this project. Any advice? Cheers Jeremy Quote
TheGermanBastard Posted December 17, 2017 Report Posted December 17, 2017 Hello Jeremy, this is sure possible. We see many blade that have haded Bohi cut at a later point in their life for one or another reason. There is one Japanese trained polisher in Australia who might be able to do it. You have to ask. There are people specialized in Horimiono work only in Japan. I knew a cratfman in Japan but he has passed on. The cutting is not that expensive bit your sword may require a (partial) re-polishing afterwards. Quote
jeremy Posted December 17, 2017 Author Report Posted December 17, 2017 Thanks! I've emailed Andrew, who's a Japanese trained polisher, he did say it is a swordsmith job to cut the bohi, so I'm waiting to hear if he knows anyone in Japan or elsewhere who can do the job. The blade itself is in tameshigiri polish, far from art polish, if anyone else has suggestions to send my blade to, let me know please. Cheers Jeremy Quote

jeremy Posted December 17, 2017 Author Report Posted December 17, 2017 Thank you! Does he have an account here or an email perhaps? I live in Australia so maybe calling him with the time differences may not be all that convenient for either of us. Cheers Jeremy Quote
