  1. I originally posted a sword in the military swords of Japan because it was in ww2 shin gunto mounts. The general belief that the blade was older and that i might be able to get more information about its age (and anything else) if I put some photos and measurements here. Nakago 7 3/4 inches Nagaga 25 5/8 inches Kissaki 1 1/8 inches Sori 1/2 inches Hamon gunome Hada appears ayasugi to me but less confident about this one Mei bizen (no) kuni kiyonori but told probably gimei
  2. Thank you. I will do both of those when I get off work today.
  3. So your thoughts would be an authentic blade with a gemei signature. I can live with that.
  4. I wanted to get some opinions on this Shin Gunto. I think it would be a type 98. It is signed on one side of the tang but I don't see any arsenal marks. It does have two holes but only the lower one is used so I assume the blade was remounted. The guard is the cut out type and the guard and all of the seppas are marked with the number 1. The handle is ray skin. It has a family mon on one of the menukis. It has a black saya which I have not seen before.
