Mike Yamasaki and Tetsugendo will be hosting a Japanese sword exhibition at the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center (JACCC) on August 15–16, featuring a fine selection of Japanese swords for visitors to view and appreciate in person. To all NMB members in and around the Greater Los Angeles area, The Nanka Tōken Kai, also known as the Southern California Japanese Sword Society, is a club for Japanese sword and fittings (and occasionally armor) enthusiasts that meets monthly in Gardena, California. Meetings are typically held on the second Friday of each month at the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute, running from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and are open to the public. Our next meeting is Friday, July 10, 2026, and NTK Club Sensei Mike Yamasaki will host a session on the topic of Nihontō Hamon. For the interest of NMB members in the greater Los Angeles and SoCal area - The Orange Country Buddhist Church will be holding their annual Hanamatsuri festival this weekend, including an exhibition of Japanese swords and fittings curated by the Nanka Token Kai, Southern California Japanese Sword Sociey. There will be some goodies on display.
