  1. Thank you very much for the translation! That was really quick! Now I have a good starting point for looking things up.
  2. Dear friends of Japanese metalwork, I have been an admirer of Japanese metalwork for years. I have been actively collecting *tsuba* and *nihonto* for three years, and I have been a member of this wonderful forum since September 2025. This is my first thread, so please forgive my somewhat clumsy approach. I recently acquired the following *tsuba*, which comes with papers. I know that this *tsuba* features a *Shiguritei* theme. It is said to have been crafted by a smith of the Kuroda clan during the late Edo period. I would be very grateful if someone could find the time to translate the *mei* (signature) on the *tsuba* for me. I appreciate your efforts! Thanks in advance! Please forgive my poor English. The Tsuba is 6,3 mm x 6,9 mm x 0,2 mm 80 g Thank you. Matt
