CurtisR Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 Not a long video but very well done and the Smith's words carry weight. Curtis Quote
drbvac Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 Thanks Curtis - every time I watch one of these artisans at work I am amazed at how long it must take to create a masterpiece not counting how many re-makes are done - and to do it in the traditional matter without a power hammer - I note he did state he is making a living at it but he is still probably working for a pittance per hour. CurtisR Posted December 30, 2011 Author Report Posted December 30, 2011 Glad you enjoyed it Dr. ~ as you say, he's probably making a meager living each day, but does it out of love for the art. I wonder if his family ever forgave him? I was also impressed by the (seemingly very Japanese & little where else) attitude of wanting his student to out-perform him one day. THAT is teaching, IMHO!. Geraint Posted December 30, 2011 Report Posted December 30, 2011 Thank you Curtis, A great little video and a new site for me too. In my opinion anyone who does not want to see their pupils surpass them shouldn't be in teaching. But I don't want to hijack the thread. Thanks again. Quote
Ronin Akuma Posted December 30, 2011 Report Posted December 30, 2011 Great video of a craftsman with the attitude and heart of a true master. Thanks for posting! Quote
