HGT500H Posted March 19, 2017 Report Posted March 19, 2017 It's kanbun shinto by Sesshu tadayuki. With certain angles, the overal hamon looks like 3d; kind of like bumpy clouds along with the entire hamon line. Does this appeared by polishing technic or by intention of sword smith? It makes the sword really beautiful and glamorous on hamon. I don't see this at all from any other few swords I have. This sword also has beautiful ashi & sunaga ashi (almost even-easy- yayasugi-looking pattern for the entire blade) and if thoses tiny details make up this 3d bumpy clouds looking? Sorry for my bad explanation but can anyone sort this out for me? Thanks you. Jason C Quote
Geraint Posted March 19, 2017 Report Posted March 19, 2017 Dear Jason. I'm not too sure from your photos but the effect you are seeing might be the result of hadori polish. All the best. Quote
