Bushido01 Posted June 26, 2007 Author Report Posted June 26, 2007 1. do nothing to the mei to begin with 2. write him a letter, include a photograph and ask if the signature was not made due to a flaw 3. ask him when he's coming to the USA next, and if he would perform a sayagaki for the sword at that time Darcy, Thank you very much for taking time to summarize all the advices including yours. I can't be more agreeing with these suggestions and I will follow them up. I really appreciate and thank you and all other members who took time and gave me their thoughts. Thank you all, Quote

WoodbridgeGaijin Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 I strongly agree with both Simon and Darcy, Lacquer will almost certainly remove "permanent marker" and Urethanes can change the color of permanent marker dyes from Black to a lighter Purplish color. I would leave it alone. If an actual sayagaki is refused for some reason I would at least try for the Urushi signature. His work never ceases to amaze me. You have an outstanding example of a work of art by someone I personally feel is among the best ever smiths. Quote
