John A Stuart Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 The kiseru that Eric posted selling at jauce.com has made me wonder something. They used to allow sword related things to be exported for a fee (brokers), however, no more. You can not even see the auctions through them for proscribed items. Who is everyone using these days to broker purchases from Japanese auctions? John Quote
cabowen Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 I view auctions directly on yahoo Japan, bidders, etc. without a problem.... Quote
Anthony de Vos Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 Hello! I'm buying armors and armor related stuff on a very regular basis on Yahoo, through jauce.com and never had any problems. I's the problems only related to nihonto? I seems to be able to put bids on nihonto as well. Regards, Anthony de Vos Quote

JohnJohn, you can still buy any sword related item from jauce.com except for blades and oil but they only handle yahoo.com Japan auctions. They will ship any fittings, I do not think yahoo.com is really the best place to buy a blade from so no great loss there. I have not found a online broker for "Bidders" or other Japanese auction sites. Quote
estcrh Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 The new message from jauce.com Swords, knives or blades cannot be shipped outside of Japan. Quote
Anthony de Vos Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Hello! I wonder why Jauce.com writes like that. I just bought a Kamakura blade, from Japan, and the seller, just as on privious occasions, do not have any problems to send the sword by EMS. Maybe the seller of my sword breake regulations? Or maybe Jauce.com don't want to bother with the red tape? Anthony de Vos Sweden Quote
cabowen Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Or maybe Jauce.com don't want to bother with the red tape? Anthony de Vos Sweden Bingo! While it was never easy to legally ship swords out of Japan, it has become even more problematic of late, and not just on the export side in Japan but on the import side on the receiving end. Too many different rules and regulations being instituted around the world makes it a huge headache and not worth the hassle.... Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 So, is the Jauce message a fake message and will the sellers themselves try to ship out of Japan if one wins an auction or is there a shipping ban in place already ? BTW, I see a lot of broken swords for sale on that site... http://www.jauce.com/view2.php?seturl=h ... enlargeimg KM Quote
Brian Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 Most sellers will not ship internationally. In fact..all of them iirc. From previous posts, it seems as though EMS cannot ship swords if the flight is not a direct one. If there is a stopover, then swords may not be carried. Merge this with a general reluctance to transport weapons, and the individual discression at the post office, and you have a situation where your sword may be refused if you don't know the staff. In most cases, too much hassle for sellers and agents, who choose rather to not ship internationally. Brian Quote

When you buy through Jauce the seller does not know who you are, Jauce has their own Yahoo auction identity and the seller ships to Jauce who then reships to you, they act as a middleman so before bidding on any item that may be suspect you should contact them first, I do not know if yari for instance are included in items that are not allowed to be shipped or if kusarigama are considered to be bladed etc. Quote
