Okinawa pickup sword

Fellas,

Thanks again for shareing your knowledge and helping the uninformed. A Recon Marine Staff Sergeant brought his Grandfathers sword into the training area for some pics, in the hope you can share your expertise on just what his Grandpa picked up.

Due to the crude script these things (mass produced Gunto) are signed with it will be difficult for a beginner to translate. Try it and if you decide to give up, here's what it says:

 

Showa Ni Ju Nen San Gatsu (the 3rd month of 1945)
