Swords Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 I thought i would start a new thread for this sword I posted earlier I found a pice of leather to help tighten it up Now its barely any wiggle I made 2 leather seppas The one I used was trimmed nicer than the other in the photo It’s been a long and tedious job I used a Dark future polish to make it darker because of a lighter tan color I filed 3 seppas to fit and added a thicker menuki Now every thing fits and isn’t noticeable because the color blends in well I poked myself twice with the xacto knife ouch Now I’m thinking of selling it but am concerned about having adding a leather seppa and some missing material around the Menuki Other than that Blade is like mint A Beautiful hamon A nice EDO era sword I took a bunch of photos If anyone needs any I have an extra one Steve Quote
John C Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 Nice sword, Steve. If you decide to sell, I would leave the seppa in place to avoid unnecessary rattling during shipping. Just disclose the use of newly made leather seppa in the auction description. John C. 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 This archaic leather SEPPA goes for an early KOTO one and - together with the blood loss - may even increase the value of the sword! 2 Quote
Swords Posted March 18 Author Report Posted March 18 Hi John I didn’t think that would be an issue but you’re probably right! I was worried it would turn off potential buyers But better to be up front I guess Lots of work getting seppas to fit poking myself twice making leather seppas and cutting a menuki I wouldn’t have done it without the help from others so thanks to all for the tip Yes it is a nice sword Blade is it great shape for an EDO era sword and Yes I’m selling it if anybody’s interested Steve Quote
vajo Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 @Steve That assembling looks something wild and not correct. Quote

John C Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 Steve: I think what Chris may be seeing is that the seppa might be out of order. Note in the pic below that the larger ones are closer to the tsuba. John C. 1 1 Quote
Swords Posted March 19 Author Report Posted March 19 Yes I see I need to arrange them it a better order. Steve 1 Quote

vajo Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 (edited) @Steve The kikusi ba seppa should be turned to. The blossoms must be outside not inside. The flatside of the seppas must look allways to the tsuba. But is see the problem here. The sword is refitted with different seppas. Thats the reason to why it didn't fit correctly.
