Lewis B Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 Is there a retailer or togishi in Europe who sells the highest grade uchiko powder? If not where can this be sourced in Japan? Quote
lonely panet Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 you will have to go STRAIGHT to a togishi for that, paid a huge amount and wait a long time. that i would say if your lucky, it takes a very very very long time to make 1 Quote
oli Posted March 6 Report Posted March 6 I bought this one https://togishi.com/store/p39/Large__Polishers_Uchiko_Ball_.html , you must look from time to time in the shop. 1 Quote

Many thanks. I reached out the Bob as the listing says they are made to order. Hopefully he can supply to Germany in a reasonable time. 1 Quote
klee Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 Im in the US but I get mine from Robert Benson in hawaii. I would think they can ship it worldwide. bushidoswd@aol.com. Mr Bensons wife Rita handles orders and emails. She can ask her son Nicholas to make one. I just ordered one last week and it was made and shipped the following day 1 Quote

Lewis B Posted March 7 Author Report Posted March 7 Hamish sort of has a point. A day to prep an order doesn't instill an awful lot of confidence if as some say its an involved and meticulous process. I decided to order an uchiko ball from an Osafune togishi via one of the vendors at the Japan Art Show. I'll pick it up in June. I saw it being used the last 2 years and seems to be quality stuff. Not cheap but by the time import duties and shipping are factored in the prices won't be too far apart. Quote
Mark S. Posted March 7 Report Posted March 7 Uchiko from Robert Benson is of the highest quality. The uchiko is already processed. It just takes a day to put the ball together… 3 Quote
