Anyone who has been before, has it been in this location previously and is the hotel it's in the best option for staying at?

We stayed in the Karel V hotel at last year's JAF, not cheap but top class, rooms, breakfast & catering all very good and of course very convenient to be on the spot.

I am gonna be honest, it´s a bit above my paygrade.

But surely a wonderful hotel.

It's a 5 star rated hotel just to give you some idea. $$$$$

I take my campervan so no worries on the overnight arrangements.

The event has been held at the hotel every year except for the inaugural one (the 2nd might have been at the conference centre too but 99% sure it wasn't)

So where is convenient to stay if you are exhibiting? Don't want to be Ubering everywhere just to get there and back. Any recommendations that are convenient and still decent?

There is a Inntel Hotel in the centre of Utrecht https://www.inntelhotels.nl/utrechtcentre/. They give a reduction in price when you have a JAF ticket. It is next to the Utrecht Central Station, a 15 minute stroll from the Karel V.

Will be there for the third time…

There are several hotels in the proximity of the venue, but you have to book early! Carel V is the most convenient, but quite expensive…

Guess I know this collector, Brian ;-)

Thats very generous and a great opportunity for someone who can make the show. Might be worth mentioning which days are covered. The tickets are personal so it is probably necessary to contact the organisers to transfer the new attendees name prior to the Show.

Not long now. Can't wait.

Ticket is for the whole fair, opening ceremony included.

Just checked the Tickets and could not find any mention of personalisation. :dunno:

Even better opportunity. Was the Shinsa option selected

This is what I found on the JAS site.

All tickets are non-refundable and personal. Visitors may be required to show valid proof of identity upon entry.

This JAF fair edition is something special for the Japanese Armor Society.   For the very first time, a shinsa will take place outside Japan.   3 Japanese NKBKHK shinsa members will come over to evaluate armor related items.   The team will be in contact with the Japanese jury during the evaluation. Unfortunately, the session is fully booked, I hope we can do this again in the future.

For the record, since last Year the NKBKHK is recognised by the Japanese Governement.

It was a great fair! Met a lot of old friends and made some new ones.

Much to look at, learn and touch! :glee:

The show exceeded expectations this year. Without a doubt the best of the 3 I've attended so far. Here are some pics taken showing some of the highlights for me

First a TJ Den Chogi on Paul Kremers stand. Sorry for the quality, I was peering over the shoulder of the viewer. I got to see it in hand later but couldn't take pics. An awesome blade. Its easy to see why Chogi is so highly praised. The Tanobe Sayagaki was more definitive with a direct Nagayoshi attribution without the Den qualifier.

A Juyo Sanekage sunobi tanto

A spectacular Juyo Unji at the Piva booth. Ubu, single mekugi-ana. Mumei. And obviously some great Menpo and kabuto

Speaking of katchu this was easily the standout piece with a price to match. Just superb

And in a similar vein the talk on Menpo was very educational. I learned a lot from John's presentation

I almost fell for this Taima Naginata Naoshi. While the blade had some nice chikei activity in the Ji it was the koshirae that really made me weak at the knees and I tell myself I'm not a fittings guy.

The 2026 Japan Art Fair was excellent. For those who couldn't make it, here are a few impressions. Prices were very reasonable and fair. You should plan to visit the Japan Art Fair next year.
