Sutraken Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 I offer a very beautiful yasukuni to made by the famous tosho Kotani Yasunori in March 1943. This especially long katana comes in shirasaya and the original matching numbers shingunto koshirae. This yasukunito has a good wartime polish, so every activity is clearly visible. Anyway I recommend a new quality polish to reveal the supreme beauty of the Yasunori entirely. The shingunto koshirae is in excellent to near mint condition. The locking mechanism works well. Here are the measurements of the katana: Nagasa: 69,85cm Overall: 91,44cm Motohaba: 3,175cm Sakihaba: 2,1cm Kasane: 0,63cm Sori: 1,9cm This katana was purchased from Ed Marshall. With his permission I post here the link to the former listing. There are detailed pictures and further information about this special smith. The asking price is 6250€ or best offer. The sword is currently in Germany and can be shipped worldwide with DHL premium international. As payment method I prefer paypal friends and family or bank transaction. https://yakiba.com/yasunori-kotani/ Quote
Volker62 Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 is the currently state of polish the original war time polish? I don't think so? Good luck Stefan Quote
Brian Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 Stefan, My eyes must be playing tricks on me...perhaps best to upload a better pic of the one you posted above. Because I see the edge as wavy and can't quite understand what I'm seeing 1 Quote
Sutraken Posted April 1, 2023 Author Report Posted April 1, 2023 The polish was done in WW2, so I think these pictures may be more convenient for the eye. Besides I used the link to Ed Marshall‘s listing, because he made way better pictures than I am able to. 1 Quote
Volker62 Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 tk's a lot Stefan then the Ubu-Ha should be still intact... sorry to my eyes it looks as it been repolished 1 Quote
Volker62 Posted April 1, 2023 Report Posted April 1, 2023 truly he was a nice guy and a great swordsmith!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3 1 Quote
Sutraken Posted April 1, 2023 Author Report Posted April 1, 2023 Okay, now I understand your point. The ubu-ba is not there, so the Yasunori was repolished. This second polish was in my opinion done before the end of WW2. My conclusion is that this Yasukunito was carried into battle and repolished before August 1945. Quote
Volker62 Posted April 2, 2023 Report Posted April 2, 2023 Thank you very much Stefan, everything is possible...!? Overall a very nice long sword, harder to find with this nagasa! Nice complete koshirae also Again good luck! Quote

Sutraken Posted April 14, 2023 Author Report Posted April 14, 2023 Thanks to our fellow member Marco ( mareo1912 ), who made these great looking pictures, I can show that this Yasunori has a good old sashikomi polish, that especially highlights the hamon and other activities of this yasukunito. https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1gJSl1qIF7yngcW9LmUeUiPEWv2Rcb4Hy?usp=sharing Quote

MarcoUdin Posted June 23, 2023 Report Posted June 23, 2023 Genuinely surprised this hasn't sold. Blade in good enough polish, Shirisaya and gunto mounts. I highly doubt any reseller could beat the price. 1 Quote
Brian Posted June 23, 2023 Report Posted June 23, 2023 Agree. I mean Yasukuni-to are sought after highly. Quote
