Sharing Pictures of My New Kabuto

Hello, 

 

I am new to katchu section of this board, as my interest in Japanese armour just started to grow. 

 

Here are few pictures of my new purchase. Kabuto and menpo were not a set, I just took pictures together because I though they look good. 

 

I wonder what are your thoughts about them? Do you think that shikoro is original to hachi?

Welcome to the world of katchu!

 

I think you have done very well for your early acquisition and the kabuto and menpo are well-matched. The kabuto is not a common zunari type but I'm not sure what to make of the fixed wakidate. Regarding the shikoro, it's difficult to say whether or not it's original to the hachi, but judging by the fit and style, it seems original to me.

I agree, it all looks good together. Do you have a maédaté?

I do not have antique one. My friend is making brass maedate so I might use one of his. Getting an original of nice quality is not easy for me...

I have several of these Nichiren O-Daimoku maedate. Most new, one old.

The angle of your pictures don’t allow to judge if the shikoro is original. Anyway, a good match.

Would be interesting to see how the wakidate are attached to the hachi 🤔
