Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have thoroughly enjoyed studying this blade for the last year and change. I purchased it directly from Aoi Art.

It is a long, beautiful blade with shallow sori and a nicely fitting shirasaya with clip.

As happens, it is time to move it on to another lovely owner.

Details of the blade can be found in the first post here:

I am asking 2200USD obo. The price includes shipping and insurance in the CONUS.

Shipping outside of the CONUS is possible but may incur extra charges.

Please PM me if you have any questions or offers. Thank you for your time!~

The blade is rather thin thickness and width

About the Naminohira school: The founder of Naminohira School was Masakuni
who moved from Kyoto to Satsuma province in the10th century.
His works rarely survive so Yukiyasu is thought as the substantial founder.
The school continuously made swords there
until the last Edo period. The 56th of this school was Iwami (No)
Kami Yasuharu who reinforced the school in the Shin-to period.
His grandson Yamato (No) Kami Yasuyuki learned under Izumi
(No) Kami Masafusa.
The name Naminohira has synonymous meaning
with the glassy surface of the water so water transporters
and navy men highly appreciate the sword of this school.
The special feature of Naminohira School is its traditional Suguha-hamon and well-grained blackish Jigane.
This sword is oosuriage mumei and looks
old early Muromachi period. The Jigane is a soft feeling nice texture.
Even though, there are some Kitaekizu but not serious.

If possible I'd suggest adding the original resolution photos. The ones that open in a new tab when clicking the popup gallery are smaller than what I'm used to from Aoi.

Nice package in either case.

Absolutely. Thank you for the suggestion, and the compliment! I hope these are better. You can click on them to bring them up in a new window which can be enlarged.

Never seen a clip like that before ...very cool.

Thank you! It was what drew me to the sword in the first place. That and I have always been a fan of Naminohira due to their unpretentiousness (is that a word? It is now lol) and stark beauty.

If I didn’t just by tons of swords in the last few weeks I would have bought this when you put it up

next month or so if it’s still around maybe.

I’m sure it will be gone soon
