A great Type 98 with excellent mounts that have some nice extra features. These include: silver Mon, original unusual variant of company grade tassel, extra thick Seppa and metal wrapped Tsuka. All matching fittings marked "31". The blade is Mumei, quite heavy, has a lovely saka-choji Hamon and is in decent old polish. My best guess is later Shinto or Shin Shinto. The Habaki has Shakudo foil. There are some rust stains, small scratches and the Kissaki looks to have been repaired at some point. Overall a very nice Type 98 with high quality mounts and nice old blade.

 

Nagasa: 66cm

Hamachi: 3cm

Sori: 3cm

OAL: 100cm
