Posting pics.  Note the wrapped 'leather?' saya!  And quite rudimentary Rinji fittings, usually called "late-war" but June '44 wasn't THAT late and we have many high-quality RS fittings in '44 and '45.

Third "Ma" number and all 3 from Yamagata.  Frustrated by the "Wago" name @george trotter.  The RJT list only shows the Akimoto Sadatomo and so far, all the Kana + numbered blades are by RJT smiths.  Yet Akimoto is listed as from Shizuoka.  So, I'm guessing this Wago Sadatomo is a different guy, and by lack of star or listing, he wasn't RJT.

I'm also curious about the extra stroke on the "tomo" kanji."  Any thoughts?

For those with Facebook, this one is of interest:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/255263006217/permalink/10158579823331218

These fittings have been of interest to me for a while. I have one myself, and always assumed the saya that looks like it is wrapped in electrical tape (it isn't) was a repair.
But I have since seen a few in these fittings, same tsuka and saya wrap. And usually (always?) with a RJT blade in it. And aluminium/alloy habaki.
Who has info on these? Maybe out of one particular forge or area?

Few pics stolen from Brandon Reeds post on FB

Yes Bruce and Stephen, I'm not sure who this WAGO is either.

I had a dig through my books when I saw this but could not find a listing for WAGO SADATOMO (I didn't notice the extra stroke either)...he is not listed in the books/lists I accessed...might be an early name usage or a place name of some period in his life...just not sure....pretty sure he would be listed under WAGO and for YAMAGATA if he was recorded in books so don't think he is "someone else"...seems to be just unknown.

BTW, I did not find a "tomo-like" kanji with that extra stroke in my Japanese dictionaries.

I will keep digging and let you know if I find something.

Great Hiromasa with Star.. + tachi mei...

Very desirable and I know he will take less he's asking like  everybody else is asking crazy prices

Sanmei’s got one by Hiromasa for $5500! Although it is a little bit longer, but yes I’m flexible. Really trying to upgrade to longer stuff (27”+) in polish by top gendai guys.
