Smallsword going for the Gusto!

Recommended Posts

An ebay seller going by "smallsword" usually sells stuff at mid to low market pricing, but he must be changing his tactics.  He's got a copper-handled Type 95 listed for $5,000 USD

and a Nagoya side-latch listed at $3,995

He's also got a late-war 95 at $2,495

Seems odd when the Type 95 market pricing seems to be slipping back down to the $1,000-$650 USD range.

Definitely reputable seller!

Thanks Bob.  I actually didn't doubt that, I was simply mildly shocked at the asking prices for the swords I listed.  I had thought that prices were falling a bit, but after chatting with a couple other guys about some other swords, they say prices are still climbing.  So who can blame him for starting high.  If someone wants to make a lower offer, he's still on market price, but if a hungry guy with $$$ really wants it and bites, he makes out both ways.

Apart from Matt and Eric, he is also selling part of the Plimpton collection.

I think you’ll find that most of what Bruce mentioned in the OP, is just that. The Copper NCO has been listed for sometime before that.

No doubt the Plimpton swords may be on consignment, so a ‘reserve’ as such would exist.

I’ve also bought from him and found him to be a good guy seller.
