Sword Information/Identification

Recommended Posts

Hello - Fairly new to the study of Japanese swords and looking for insight into a new acquisition.

It  appears to be un-shortened and has a  22.5 in nagasa .  It has an O-itame Hada , but really can't put my finger on the Hamon - it's wavy near the boshi, but straightens out and ends near the machi - My guess would be Uda amd late Muromachi period....Any thoughts or ideas?

Looks like an ubu wakizashi, with some kind of notare midare hamon from the tip to the middle of the sword, and then the hamon settles down to a sugu-ba as it nears the nakago. Feels like its more of an Edo period piece to me. Slightly unique hamon, but no food idea who/what school might have made this. Osaka Ishido, maybe?

Mimmo,

welcome to the NMB forum!

Looks like a long EDO era WAKIZASHI. Whatever that is - please don't touch the blade with your fingers! :glee:
