Translation Kabuto Mei, please.

Hello Misters,

I recently acquired a Japanese Kabuto and was wondering if anyone could translate the mei for me.

There are two signatures, maybe a date...?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Oliver

Hello Oliver,

the mei reads "明珎紀宗周作" (Myôchin Ki Munechika saku. The other reading of the name is Munekane)

The nengo is "嘉永セ年甲寅二月日" (A day in February Kaei 7 = 1854, "甲寅" is the zodiac date = Kinoe Tora)

Something more about this smith.....

Hello Sir Uwe,

It’s very precious, thank you very much, I didn’t expect so much.

A little disappointed, I imagined a feudal kabuto, we are at the end of the Edo period so no more battles ...

Good day and good luck!

Best regards,

Oliver
