Sword translation

This is a sword I picked up not long ago, I have no idea of the origin, if it is a fake, replica or real? There is markings on the blade I would love some help translating and if anyone knows anything else it would be appreciated

I know but I was still interested in some sort of translation or identification of steel

Can't translate gibberish. It's meaningless. And the steel is of no consequence. Whatever steel the Chinese had lying around. It's a wallhanger.

It has half heartedly tried to put a date on one side of the nakago. The sloppily chiselled kanji try to say Showa 18, ie 1943 but the date is not finished properly. Then the name of a hypothetical smith on the other side.
