Naval oil quenched blade in army mounts - uk

Bit of an odd one, but a really interesting piece. Single naval stamp, seems to be a decent hamon although out of polish.

Tsuba is iron with decoration, seems to be inlay but don’t want to remove patina too much.

Cut down nakago, possibly for kyu gunto at some point?

Copper habaki, with remnants of decoration. Obviously original to blade.

Saya has some damage to cloth, but fits the blade extremely well. I have high end modern katanas and they don’t come close to the fit.

900 or best offer, will post worldwide.

Blade looks nice, but your home looks nicer - nice design!

My long suffering wife will be very pleased to hear that. She is always complaining the the ‘swords are taking over’!

It does appear to be various pieces combined. The blade is stamped Navy Toyokawa Arsenal and looks stainless steel and maybe shortened.  The suspension ashi is kaigunto,  as noted the fuchi and kabutogane (too big) are shingunto,  the menuki is civilian (post-war?),  tsuba looks to be iron and cast?,  habaki is copper which was not used on these blades and also is too small.  The tsuka has been re-wrapped with the original ito but it is not criss-cross and only a knot on one side at the top.    But of course I have been wrong before.
