Symbols and mon

Hi

I recently bought this from the NMB and I have two queries

Is it a Hosagawa mon split in half - another mon - just part of the design

Is the calligraphy stylized kanji - Buddhistic script - Other? I'd prefer some idea and links so I can see for myself as it's nice to have a dig around and this type is quite common on tsuba so I have references I can use

Without seeing an attachment, all I can say is the Hosokawa did use a version of the nine-star Kuyomon, if that is what you are asking about.

I think that is an arranged design based on Yukiwa(雪輪 - snowflake)-mon.

The kanji are 壽 - kotobuki (long life) in two different styles.
