sword estimation

Inna, what you have shown is everuything EXCEPT the blade itself. Please take some photos that shows the entire bare blade, to start with. That will us the age, then, close-up shtos of the rest of the blade itself may give some idea of the provenance. Two mekugiana & the end of the nakago simply show that the blade is suriage.

Might be the photos, but the nakago rust seems quite light.  Original mekugi ana looks like it might have been punched though. The suriage looks to be only a few centimeters, so the sugata was probably not too different. If what we see in the boshi is indeed the Hamon (could be tarnished) then it looks like a midare Hamon.

Chris, I assume you are right about the blade being mumei, or Inna would probably shown a picture of it, or at least mentioned it, but mei should be on the other side I think.

Gentlemen, I`m interested in your opinion on this sword, what era it may be, and particular on number of tang holes. Any information is appreciated.

Dear Inna.

Welcome to NMB!  What we would like is a shot of the whole blade, like this please.

DSCF0220.thumb.jpg.d716eb8768aeb6df8ffc45ad41a9eda8.jpg

Please also remove the habaki, the blade collar, so that we can see the whoe of the nakago, the tang.

Looking forward to it, this sword has nice mounts as others have said.

All the best.

Dimensions of the blade could help estimate the time period it was made.

The distance between the holes in the tang can help estimate how much a blade was shortned, looks for me like ~5-6cm. (sometimes the blade is so much shortned that the original first mekugiana (hole in tang) is also cut of but i dont think this is the case here.)

Im also not sure how much the blade is tapering to the tip because of your photos angle.

But from what i see actually it looks like an edo blade made in ~1660 with nice fittings.
