Hi Chris.

I do not want to hijack your thread but by chance I have recently acquired a very similar tsuba, even though not as in good conditions as yours.

I have also a matching kozuka:

My hypothesis for the kozuka is Washida school. For the tsuba not sure yet. Do you have more information on yours?

Best Regards

Luca

Hi Luca, no i have no information about the tsuba. It is on shipping to me. I wait that it will arrive here.

The Kozuka has the same design, wow. I thought these are vine leaves but the longer i look on the pictures it can be butterflies. And what are these silver sprinkles around the leaves.

Your Tsuba looks nice too.

Looks also nearly pauwlonia. I dont know.

Maybe its a mon?

Hi, Chris,  I think they are paulownia (Kiri) leaves presented as  3-5-3 flower kiri mon as in your picture above.Silver sprinkles represent the flowers. Lot of variations of kiri mon are shown in page 249 in Gary Murtha's book Japanese sword guards.402735572_kirimon.thumb.jpg.c91c382bfe13385c74f903e6c774184d.jpg
