First shot Kanehide Saku

I must look into the books for the second kanji. I would say one of the showa smiths not from the gendaito side.

Dated July 1943 with a faintly struck, double struck, Nagoya stamp.  So, non-traditionally made.

I was trying to see the tiny stamp at the top, but could not quite make it out. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this the original post a tachi-mei, opposite of the oshigata below?

Naga

Mura

Kane

Kiyo

Saku

The pic below is an oshigata I found for the same smith.

Showa = 1926

Ju = 10

Hachi = 8

Nen = Year

Shichi = 7

gatsu = Month

18th year, 7th month of Showa is July 1943

Thanks for the very good translation.

You are welcome!

I hope it is a beautiful blade. You may have a hand made blade. Do not confuse with traditional tamahagane, hand-forged and water tempered blade though. Your blade may be hand-worked mill steel that was water or oil quenched. Feel free to post more pics of the blade and mounts.

Its a normal showa-to. I see nothing what makes it special or interesting for that price. If you like it i would not pay more than 1100 EUR for it.
