IJASWORDS Posted October 19, 2020 Report Share Posted October 19, 2020 Selling a '98 mounted Gunto, by the famous Showa swordsmith, Isachi Kanehiro. This sword is mounted in an aluminium Saya, with most of its original paint intact, a very rare feature. Don't know if you can tell from the photos, but it has an extra long kisaki. All original fittings, and numbered. Obviously for a war time sword, there is the odd blemish and nick, but has the patina of originality. This is an original war time weapon (captured or surrendered) and has been kept that way for 80 years. So don't expect perfection, it is what it is, a piece of history. Hopefully will continue to be preserved that way. Attached photos tell the story. I am after USD1600 ono, but I am sure I can help with some of the PayPal costs and postage if pushed.
