I know a thread already exists or they have been discussed at length somewhere, I just cant find it, but I know these have been discussed somewhere. Either way, I'd like this thread to be a place where we all can post our examples and be an end all be all of information about them.

Bruce, if you enlarge the bottom right hand corners of the extended drag, you will see a makers logo..... a "W" in a triangle. Here is a WW2 advertisement for the company.

Well, if it had been a snake it would have bitten us!  I just checked Fuller's picture of it, and it is right there for all to see, as well.  I've updated the Stamps doc to reflect this (5.4).  Nice work Neil!

The company name from the advertisement is below.

若瀬軍刀製作所 = Wakase Guntō Seisaku-jo = Wakase Military Sword Workshop.
