This could well be an authentic blade, "signed" in an attempt to raise interest and value. To say more, we should see more pictures of the blade, but then tip-up!

Agree..was only commenting on the mei, not the nakago. Has every chance at being a legit Nihonto from the little we can see there, only mei added later.

This is a very late souvenir item for tourists. Gruesome!

I am not so sure that this is authentic. The style is based on the hammered brass koshirae that you see on export pieces for tourists, however even in those the execution of the aoi is typically done better than what we see here. An example of one of those koshirae below, but we have discussed these here in other threads.

The geometry of the blade itself is off, with the shinogi-ji being more narrow than what we would see in an authentic but broken sword. The hamon is also off. I suspect that the entire piece is a fake.
