PNSSHOGUN
Here is a very nice condition Type 98 by RJT smith Yoshiharu (YOSHIHARU (義治), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Tottori – “Yoshiharu” (義治), family name Mitani (三谷), rikugun-jumei-tōshō), dated 1943, with original tassel & synthetic Samegawa. The blade is in very good condition with a few stains and marks disturbing the original polish. The mounts are in excellent condition, the fittings retain almost all of the gilding, hopefully it comes across in the photos. The blade itself is nicely signed and dated, has three (!?) "W" stamps but no other visible stamps(Seki, Sho etc). This was taken in Hiroshima by a US officer at the end of the war and appears to have been untouched since then, original Type 98 in this condition are getting harder to find. While Yoshiharu is listed as an RJT smith this blade is non-traditional. There is a thread about these "W" stamps here: http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/19390-the-mysterious-w-stamp/ Blade measures 26", overall length of mounts is 38". Price: 1400usd + shipping costs OBO Please PM if interested.

David Flynn
There were two smiths who signed Yoshiharu and I believe, both were Gendai Smiths. This Yoshiharu, is signed Tachi Mei and Niji Mei. This points to me to be Gendaito.
