TheGermanBastard Posted October 2, 2019 Report Share Posted October 2, 2019 I am offering a Naginata made by Minamoto Masaari of Musashi Province in around 1864. Minamoto Masaari was a student of Muneari. This is a very powerfull and strong feeling Naginata. Not of the ceremonial type but the one you bring for the battle. It measures approx 48.5 cm Nagasa and has a quite thick Motokasane as you can see in the images. The blade was awarded NBTHK Hozon and rests in a newly made Shirasaya. It includes a copper Habaki. While the blade has old polish left showing a nice wavy Gunome Hamon throughout the blade it would be most beautifull with a fresh polish. It is a bit rough on he Ha (no nicks though) with some scuffs / oixdation and some light pitting. The pictures very much tell it all. I can see one small Ware in the Shinogi ji and there are 3 battle marks on one side near the Habaki. A well made, beefy blade with good length.
