Mon on menuki

I was recently shown this menuki.

 

 

I think the mon corresponds to one from this picture (6th on the last line).

 

 

Is this correct ? If so, do you happen to know the family name attached to this mon ?

The kamon in the chart is maru ni omodaka (丸に沢瀉), literally three-leaf arrowhead in a circle. However, as the kamon in question is encircled by seven smaller versions, this makes it a completely different kamon

Bazza: No it's not from a shin-guntō. This picture is from a wakizashi my uncle owns. I'll try to ask him a picture of the whole koshirae.

 

Kyle: I see, thanks. It didn't occur to me that the kamon was made of the 8 circles before your comment.

Hi Kyle & Francois,

 

This is a complex Kamon.

 

Maru Ni Omodaka (Water Plantain within a circle) as Kyle suggests.

 

The form looks like a constellation cluster 

 

Yatsu Boshi (8 stars) is the shape as far as I can work out  (7 clustering around the central star)

 

The Nagao Han used a similar Yatsu Boshi repeat device, though theirs was a repeat Mitsu Tomoe

 

So I guess Yatsu Boshi No Maru Ni Omodaka would be a close call.

 

However trying to tie it down to a Family will be extremely difficult.

Indeed, "Yatsu Boshi No Maru Ni Omodaka" seems to be as descriptive as it can get.
