Bazza Posted August 13, 2019 Report Posted August 13, 2019 ALL - I AM SO TERRIBLY EMBARRASSED Referring to this thread: http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/29457-question-re-hzen-tadayoshi-gendaitoshinsakuto/ The sword in question is actually signed HIZEN KUNI JU NIN YOSHITADA SAKU KORE A good friend actually has an early Shinto Hizen Yoshitada and when first viewing his sword I initially read it as TADAYOSHI, so conditioned am I (WE??) to read these two kanji as TADAYOSHI. So, my humblest apologies for the red herring. My question is answered, thank you all for those enduring the thread. C'mon now, only one person PMd me about the error - how many really noticed it??? Hmmmm??? Best regards, BaZZa. Quote
Brian Posted August 13, 2019 Report Posted August 13, 2019 We just assumed you had done the dirty work already Should have checked of course. Quote
vajo Posted August 13, 2019 Report Posted August 13, 2019 Barry the Yoshitada Gendaito you show is a high grade smith and a it is surely a beautifull sword. Btw. the signature looks very good and the yasurime is well made. Quote
christianmalterre Posted August 13, 2019 Report Posted August 13, 2019 well made ? it looks Gimei to me my friend ( i but only do collect Tsuba...as you know ) Christian Quote
vajo Posted August 13, 2019 Report Posted August 13, 2019 Where did you see a gimei? It is the mei of the RJT smith Kinoshita Yoshitada. 1 Quote
christianmalterre Posted August 13, 2019 Report Posted August 13, 2019 the answer is much more simple then you ( eventually may ? ) expect. maybe a question of picture ?- i but hard doupt! the Yasurime are not cut professional the Nakago shape is not executet professional the Nakago-ana is " humble"...so far... the individual Kanji look like stamped, and not individually ciseled/ cut out....so far.... maybe better pictures would releave more ? let us see.... i but hard doupt! ( and we still have not seen the Kissaki, Boshi ect.ect...) Christian Quote
