Japan Art expo 2020

Exciting announcement
Japanartexpo 2020
In 2018 the first specialist Japanese sword event in Europe for many years took place in the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands. The feedback from participants and dealers following this 2 day event was universally enthusiastic. As a result the organisers have announced their intention to stage a second event at the same venue in 2020.
To increase the appeal of the event and the number of potential participants the organisers have broadened the scope to include a much wider range of Japanese art. While the core will remain Japanese arms and armour the event will include many other Japanese art forms such as ceramics, lacquer ware and wood block prints.
Both the commercial event and educational programme will reflect this greater range of subject material.
Because of the broadened focus the event has been rebranded and renamed Japan art expo.
As with all such events its success will depend on the number of visitors that attend. With this in mind the Japanartexpo website has been launched this week. On the site you will be able to pre-register for tickets which will become available nearer the event once details have been finalised. Early registration will not only help the organisers plan the event more efficiently, it will also encourage more specialist dealers from Japan, Europe and the USA to participate.
Utrecht is a delightful and welcoming city. Access from Schiphol is direct and 30 minutes by train. Utrecht central station is equally convenient for those travelling by train from other parts of Europe.
Based on our experience at Samurai Art Expo we believe this event will offer a fantastic opportunity to meet like minded and knowledgeable people. Alongside the commercial activity the comprehensive and interactive educational programme will cover many of the art forms on display at the event.
Please visit the website www.Japanartexpo.com  and preregister and help make this an event to remember.

Best Regards

Paul

Had great time at the Expo last year and I'll be there next year too. I've said it on few occasions that I think broadening the scope a bit is a great idea and hopefully will bring in lots of interested folks. Got myself registered, any idea if 3-day pass like last year might be available for next year too?

look forward to seeing you both there

To be honest I have no idea about a three day pass as yet but don't doubt we will learn in good time. I think it will be a great event and the broadening of the scope will only enhance the experience.

Dear All,

I wanted to update everyone regarding Japan Art expo.

The educational programme has now been finalised. Details can be found on the Japan art expo website. The educational programme runs from Friday afternoon through Saturday and will include presentations on a diverse range of subjects and both armour and sword kantei sessions. many of the presentations will be given by contributors to the NMB.

Alongside the presentations we intend to put together an exhibition of high quality items relating to the lectures. Details of this will be posted on the website as and when we finalise it.

As has been said often before Samurai Art Expo was an extremely well run and enjoyable event. This year Japan Art Expo promises to be bigger and better. It offers collectors and enthusiasts in Europe a unique opportunity to come together and enjoy two and a half days of sword and armour relation conversation and study.

details can be found on

www.japanartexpo.com.

Dear All,

In light of the current situation regarding Corvid-19 I dont think it will surprise anyone that the organisers of Japan Art Expo have taken the decision to postpone the event.

While regretable I think the decision is fully understandable and the correct one. As soon as there is news regarding revised date and schedule the information will be posted on the japanartexpo website. I will also post further updates here.
