Soryushu Masaaki

I believe this was a Mino smith, but am not very familiar with his work. This sword has a very wide mihaba and an extended kissaki (dimensions shortly). The hamon is a notare-based ko-gonome. The sword is in a type 3 gunto koshirae with red lacquered tsukamaki. There are a few shallow chips in the edge of the kissaki which are completely restorable.

Nagasa: 64cm

Moto-haba: 32mm
Saki-haba: 24mm
Kasane: 6mm

$1,600 (plus shipping and PayPal)

Shinsoku (alternately read Kiyokuni) dated 1943

This is a gendaito by Shinkoku. It has a star stamp and is dated the 2nd month of the 2603rd year of the founding of the empire (February 1943). The blade is in shirasaya (though not of professional quality). It is in fairly good polish with a quality two piece habaki. The hamon is a very bright gonome in ko-nie.

$2,160 (plus shipping and PayPal)

Iijima Masayuki

This is a gendaito by the smith Iijima Masayuki in truly exceptional shin-gunto koshirae. I have posted a number of photos below so that quality and condition of the koshirae can be seen. The blade has an elegant sugata with deep sori and a wide gonome hamon in ko-nie with slanted ashi. As is typical of this smith, the mei is stamped.

$2,850 (plus shipping and PalPal).

Toto ju Minamoto Yoshiharu saku

This is a blade by the Tokyo smith Yoshiharu. It is another that is in exceptional shin-gunto koshirae. The condition of this koshirae is simply wonderful. Yoshiharu is known to have made both Showa-to and gendaito. I do not see nie in my first viewing, however it does not appear that a stamp was ever present. I will leave that caveat for now and study a bit further.

$2,850 (plus shipping and PayPal)

That Yoshiharu is in fantastic condition. I sold a Yoshiharu Showa-to two years ago. But this blade looks absolut beautifull. Its truely a gendaito.

Very nice offercs Ray.

I remember some times ago here in the board as rusty star stamped blades where gone fast for $2000 each. And they were in bad condition. Now you get High grade gendaito in perfect state condition for a little more. That is, stunning

The Type3 Masaaki looks very "sexy" with that red lacquerd Tsuka and black Saya. It need some restoration but it would be an eyecatcher.

Thanks Chris! To sweeten the deal, will bring the Masaaki down to $1,500 (plus shipping and PayPal). The Masaaki is a healthy, and very wide blade with a large kissaki. The koshirae only needs the retention clip replaced. It also has an owner-made shirasaya and tsunagi, which is not of professional quality but sufficient to keep the blade and koshirae protected independently.

I will also restate that the Masayuki and Yoshiharu koshirae are in almost best-possible-condition. Both are beautiful and well preserved koshirae with everything original and matching. Nagasa of the Masayuki is a longer than average 69.8cm.

Any questions, please drop me an email at raymondsinger@gmail.com.

Best regards,

Ray

The owner agreed to a collector's offer of $2,500 for the Masayuki, which then did not move forward. So, if anyone might be interested in that piece for $2,500 please let me know. Long gendai in long gunto koshirae of 41.75".

Best regards

Ray
