Peter, I wonder how the monks rationalized their healing abilities with the weapons they used? The first time I saw the term "warrior monk," I thought it was a typo.

It's not unusual for coinage from those courting favor, to come from any widely accepted source.    Whether a gift  from a country, another royal, or a trader(East India Co.,etc.) gold coins of antiquity would not be surprising.    Gold is gold.
