John A Stuart Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Hi, Lots of money sure, but if this is not a shinshinto masquerading as something older not too pricey. To lay that kind of cash I would really cross the t's and dot the i's. John Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted March 10, 2008 Report Posted March 10, 2008 Maybe some of the members from Italy will let us know about this seller. Hi Stephen. Sorry for the delay, but I was checking with a friend of mine. No results sure enough to spend a word. Often italian NihonTo dealers (e-bay or not) are overpriced for the items they sell. This one seems to offer several types of antiques and maybe weapons are given to him by third persons needing an intermediary with the permission of weapons collector, in order to send the blades abroad, reaching a much wider number of potential buyers. The process in Italy is a pain in the back due to several bureaucratic reasons (I know because sometimes I offer this service). *If* this is the case he doesn't really know what he's selling and bases his statements on informations given by the sword's owner. I wouldn't spend such an amount of money on e-bay with a non-specialized and not already recommended seller, but I'm really cautious when "e-bay" and "NihonTo" enters the same phrase, so I'm not entirely impartial. To be honest I wouldn't spend >10k U$ on e-bay for any reason... :D Quote
