Hill Posted May 17, 2016 Report Posted May 17, 2016 I have collected western blades for some years and was recently given a wakizashi, It appears to be in good shape and you can see a temper line on it. It is a signed blade and I would like to know who made it and during what period. It's overall length is 26 3/4 inches. Thank you for any help you may be able to give me. Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 17, 2016 Report Posted May 17, 2016 Noshu Seki ju Kane (辻) saku. I can't read the kanji after 'kane', must be a brain fart. I had originally thought 过 It is not a Japanese character though. John Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 17, 2016 Report Posted May 17, 2016 It could be Kanesugu, if 过 is the simplified form of 過 but, there is no record of this. John Quote
Ray Singer Posted May 18, 2016 Report Posted May 18, 2016 I would guess from the nakago jiri that there was a threaded extension to fit into some type of military koshirae. Best regards Ray Quote
