Marius
A good size ko-tosho tsuba. The sukashi are said to represent sun rays and the plate is tapering from the seppa dai to the edge - a form factor typical for old tosho work. This tsuba was once attributed to ko-katchushi (perhaps because the sukashi take up so much of the plate), so you can choose your preferred attribution Whichever neat box we put this tsuba in, fact is: 1. it is old (16th century) 2. it has an imposing presence (diameter of 8.7cm) 3. it was once covered in black lacquer, much of which still remains on the plate (as shown in the pictures). Old lacquer is very desirable, not many tsuba left which have such amounts of it. An excellent guard for mounting on a long katana (Tensho koshirae comes to mind) or to be enjoyed as part of a collection. $395 incl. global express shipping, PayPal fees extra, please. Now, that is as cheap as they get! Hence, a few days only, as most of my tarts
