First time i see one online

Very interesting, I would like to know what is said about that habaki. Can I assume it is an iron habaki that is also credited to the smith?

That is beautiful, very interesting habaki as well.

The habaki looks like it has the Japanese royal gem/jewel (i think its called) on it. But the erosion and all makes it look reminiscent of an union..

 

Also i think the fuchi & kashira are quite exquisite on the koshirae.

I think most of his fame, is the alure of his story. Though i remember reading it i can't recollect it entirely right now, but a quick google showed alot such as this excellent article.

Hankei's work is unique. Here is another example where you can more clearly see his particular interpretation of Soshu-den and the work of Norishige.

It says the habaki is also believed to be by Hankei, and that there is a similar habaki also on another Hankei piece that is currently the property of the Sumiyoshi Jinja.

I was talking about the one linked on sho-shin. It says Juyo candidate on the site. I'm merely saying that it should easily clear juyo (IMHO). If it already went Juyo, then I missed it. I like it far better than the one the OP posted.

Oops, sorry, missed that one. It does look fabulous. Love the photography too. Wish I could figure out how to take close ups like that. Guess I need to invest in a proper macro lens.
