tokashikibob Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Pete, In case you haven't looked at Danny's scholarly work on Kunisada's mei. http://www.nihontocraft.com/Izumi_no_Kami_Kunisada_mei.html Reading a bit on Kunisada Oya & Shikai, it was stated in Nagayama's refereance book that his work has a very dense itame hada almost muji. Your's is pretty open. Hamon style looks right on the money. Best Regards, Bob Quote
PeterS Posted June 18, 2015 Author Report Posted June 18, 2015 Dear Bob! First of all, thanks for Your help. I'm sorry, but my english isn't enough good (i never learned). I didn't understand this turn of phrase "looks right on the money". Please explain to me. I saw this site and the oshigatas. I checked the mei line by line with the second from right at fig.4. And i checked with this mei: http://www.nihonto.com/abtartkunisada.html It can not be pretty opened due to the poor polishing? Thanks again for Your help and time. All the best to You. Peter Quote
kissakai Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Hi Peter Bob has made some basic observations If you tell us your main language I am someone will help you It can not be pretty opened due to the poor polishing? Not poor polishing - looks OK to me but I am not an expert Grev UK Quote
PeterS Posted June 18, 2015 Author Report Posted June 18, 2015 Dear Grev! It is hard: You know i learned (required language) 5 years in Russia, then i learned 5 years Deutch (I had not choice) and now i didn't learned english :-D Therefor i can't speak other language... Just a little bit my native language :-D But thanks. I try to understand everything but sometimes i can't. Sorry for that. I don't know now what wrote Bob about the hamon. Can you explain to me if you know? Thanks in advance (of course thanks too if you can't). Thanks. All the best to You. Peter Quote
Grey Doffin Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Hi Peter, "Right on the money" is English (American English) slang for perfectly correct. Grey Quote
PeterS Posted June 18, 2015 Author Report Posted June 18, 2015 Dear Grey! Thank you very much for the help. I understand and i hope i don't forget... All the best to You. Peter Quote
kissakai Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Is there any Hungarian NMB member who can translate Bob's initial comments as they are short and to the point Grev UK Quote
Ian B3HR2UH Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Interesting that this piece is already up for sale on e bay . If it was genuine I would give the game away . Ian brooks Quote
PeterS Posted June 19, 2015 Author Report Posted June 19, 2015 Dear Ian! Sorry if you think i have secrets or anything like this. But if you ask me i every time answer for you just the truth. Without questions: Yes you saw good but the listing is earlier then the post here. My reason that i'm not expert in the Japanese blades now and i don't want to lie nobody. I checked anything about this blade that i can. I think the post here was very helpful due to Bob. Thanks again to him. You know i intrested about the polishing practice but i'm not a billionaire. I buy swords i Practice and i sell that. Not for horrible prices. Just my purchase price and a little. That this blade is genuine or not is kust important to me due to the buyers. The polishing I learn less then 2 years ago. I see my flaws and i have to make much more practice and learning to be better than now. If i do anything that looks to someone lies than i'm really sorry. I agree to all that this will be my last post. Thanks for the many helps and sorry. All the best to All. Peter Simon Quote
Brian Posted June 19, 2015 Report Posted June 19, 2015 Do not polish Japanese swords yourself. Brian Quote
