kissakai Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 I have this tsuba for about 12 months and only just realised it has a mei Although it is very faint can anyone help translate the mei? Also not sure what the hot stamps represent I think this 1800 - 1850 Size = 83mm x 81mm x 5mm inner and the mimi is 6mm Grev UK Quote
pcfarrar Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 Hard to see but they are usually signed along the lines of Yamashiro Tenpo. Quote
CSM101 Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 Maybe this is more helpful. I´ve tried to make the signs more readable. But somehow it doesn´t make any sense. Uwe G. Quote
Dr Fox Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 Has this been done as a design display, or deliberate damage? Quote
Ask Posted July 7, 2014 Report Posted July 7, 2014 Use some talc powder it might show up better but it doesn't look great. Quote
kissakai Posted July 7, 2014 Author Report Posted July 7, 2014 Thanks, Chris, Uwe and Denis Suming up looks like 真田 Design display? Deliberate damage? I've no idea if it is a mei. I've added an image that I've highlighted the 'mei I did this but looking at the mei with a loupe then adding the 'dot to dot' to the image Grev UK. Quote
