Looking for Translation please, Koto-Shinto peroid?

Any help with identifying this sword would be much appreciated. Thanks

Dear TreasureHunter,

 

Please sign your posts or they will be deleted by the Mods. The mei says "Bishu Osafune...." The rest is illegible (to me anyhow). The nengo side is illegible, too, but if I had to guess, it would be late Muromachi period, circa 1550s, a mass-produced sword.

Too faint to read:

 

May be BSOFKM (initials) the four first kanji have been translated at least 40 times

 

Try with the kanji pages at the top of the page.

 

First two kanji : province

Third and Fourth : town

Fifth and sixth : smith name

You should read Dr Stein website, you will then learn how mei are made. Other side is the date, try to decipher it.

 

To learn, you have only to read all the posts in the translation section.
