Deron Douglas Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Hi, would anyone have a sample signature for Sugiura Joi of the Nara School? Thanks, Deron Quote
Rich T Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 seems he signed slightly differently depending on the signature. The first two show Jôi with Kao and Jôi Nagaharu, two variations of his mei. He is listed in Haynes as being born in 1701 and dying in 1761. As he got older, one of his mei was Issandô or Issandôku Jôi as shown in the third image. His signature is quite different at this stage of his life. Hope that helps a little. Cheers Rich Quote
Deron Douglas Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 Thanks Rich, I have a kozuka that looks more like the first signature than the others. It's crisp and has one minor variation. So it could be authentic. Cheers, Deron Quote
