Guest Simon Rowson Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 Just finished a re-watch of this classic film and wondered if anyone else had noticed that Colonel Saito, the camp commandant, has a gunto with a general's tassel? :? It's a bit like the British TV series "Tenko". When the commandant surrenders his shin-gunto in the last episode, it has mysteriously become a kai-gunto! Apparently, according to Ron Gregory (who queried this mistake at the time), the BBC thought that a kai-gunto looked far more impressive than a shin-gunto. Simon Quote
Zen Lizard Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 It's surprising how many big budget films contain errors of this kind. Most were fleeting, such as the red sports car from Ben Hur (better still, one of the trumpet players at the start of the race is seen wearing a wristwatch ), but were left in, I suppose, because the filmmakers did not consider the audience of the day to be that observant. Did you also happen to notice that in one scene the explosives were revealed by the drop in the level of the river, yet when Sir Alec falls on the plunger and blows the bridge the explosives are now at the level of the bridge deck ? Jean Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 In all films, you can see this kind of errors, Heroes wearing their wrist watches in 17th action movies. My best one (I dig western movies) is from Sergio Leone's movie "The good, the Bad and the Ugly). The very Bad Lee van Cleef has a 44 Remington 1859 model cap-and-ball revolver and his belt is full of cartridges ... Not a surprise he gets killed at the end of the movie, he did not deserve to live as a bounty hunter ....   too careless Quote
