  1. Hello Everyone I would just like to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed this forum. I appreciate the professionalism that has been continuously displayed. As a newbie, I truly respect that. Today, I am offering a mumei Aikuchi in high polish with a nice, dragon horimono, signed mounts (unresearched) and possible baleen wrapped handle. Based on the shape of the tang, it is more than likely Kaga School and has spectacular Edo dress and tracing papers. The length of the blade is 27.5cm. This is a truly spectacular piece with historical documentation. Available for sale here first. A great research project! Priced at $5,500.00 USD (willing to some negotiation). Please feel free to let me know if something is missing. I am a first timer. Thanks everyone! Bob
  2. Hey guys, Got a friend here who sent me some pictures of a wakizashi he acquired and I thought I'd share them here. The mei gives me an off vibe, despite being unable to read it, it looks too fresh and awkwardly written. Maybe I am wrong there, so I thought I'd ask! For him, I'd like to find out: Translation Gimei or shoshin Approximate era/school Is the horimono a recent addition or period correct? Thanks guys!

  5. Throughout Korea and Vietnam (with Vietamese swords, these are more like floral designs and hamon designs similtaniously, and are most of the time etched, not chiseled in) these are mostly quite common. I swear I've seen something like this on Japanese blades, they probably exist on Chinese blades too (the ones that are left at least ). Anyone seen these and know what they are called? in any language? Thanks,
  6. Hi all, just hoping someone would have the time to have a look at this tachi, I believe the mei is signed Tomonari but unsure of which particular one but leaning towards Settsu, not because I am particularly clever but on the basis that apart from Ko Bizen tomonari he is the only other one to sign with 2 characters TO 139. Have not been able to find a signature of this particular smith so if some can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated, the Kanji on the blade are proving quite elusive to translate so a little help from the learned members would be good, with regard to the dragon and cloud horimono I have not been able to find a reference for this either so more than a little interested in finding out more on this if anyone can help. The pictures below are not of the quality of some I have seen on here, not very good with a camera, but if anyone has any suggestions of how to improve them it would be most welcome. Thanks in advance. Paul
  7. Hello. I am asking for help from those of you who may read Japanese translating the kanji on both sides of the blade on a sword I own. Any help would be greatly appreciated! --Matt
  8. Can someone help with tang translation? Posting for the friend, didn't see the blade in person, only photos...
