Hi Mark Thank you for your response. I have fixed the problem, I hope in the google drive files, thanks for that. I am no expert, by far! Yes, Bob was on another level! He was a friend of my wife's late husband, this is her collection now. Her husband bought almost all his swords from Bob. I'm pretty sure this is gimei, as I have asked my wife and she was fully involved with the collection. I do understand about getting things papered, however, her husband was not big on this. At this time, I am looking to sell it, however, I do have other blades in the collection. This has been an issue, as I am dealing with a number of swords. Thank you for your help in regards to this, I will try to further research this. Cheers and thanks, Bob

Hello Gentleman Thank you once again for letting me join this fantastic forum. I have had nothing but a very positive experience with this forum and I truly appreciate all the help I have received. I am once again asking if anyone could be kind enough to direct me in valuing the above sword. It is more than likely gimei. The information that I have been given on the signature is Nagasone Nyudo Okisato and was purchased more than likely through Bob Lightner in Florida. It is in good polish and comes with a plain shirasaya. I realize that the prices between an original and a fake are significant, so any help would be appreciated. I am attaching google drive photos as there are quite a few. Thanking you all once again, Cheers Bob https://drive.google...gfFseHDb?usp=sharing https://drive.google...OPtwfIWC?usp=sharing

Hello Thank you everyone for your input. I have researched both names and am still a little confused. Does anyone have another example of the signature that is on the tea canister. I still cannot find anything remotely like it, other than copies of current pieces. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and Cheers Bob -

Hi Steve I just read the link, thank you ever so much. Truly beautiful work. So, I'm a little confused, did he have all his work stamped with his name, so this could just be a product of one of over 81 workshops? If so, do you have any idea what I should value this item at? I realize it is no where near the quality, but is this a rare piece? Thanks for the help, much obliged! Cheers Bob -

Hi Everyone I'm back with another question for this fantastic group of people and forum. I am asking today for anyone's help in valuing the attached aikuchi. (I have a suit of armour from the Hosokawa clan that matches, the fabric on the scabbard.) Both as the sword itself and hopefully some added idea of value, for it has appeared in the movie Shanghai Noon, filmed in Canada. I do know that it has Edo period fittings, and the blade has been cut down and is older. It is unsigned and unpapered and the scabbard is in somewhat of need of repair. I have no idea what the kozuka's values are either, so any information would be greatly appreciated as I have no idea and I would like to eventually post it here for sale in the near future. I have attached a google drive file with photos of the aikuchi, the suit of armour and a screenshot showing the knife as well as the contract. Thanks all. https://drive.google...qTwzm?usp=drive_link Cheers Bob

Hi Jean Thank you so much for all your help. Yes, I will research pricing as best as I can. I truly appreciate the help and when I am ready, I will start by posting them here. I am a little slow at it, but practice does make perfect! I'm hoping that you don't mind, but I may be bugging you for more information possibly in the near future. I have found this to be another area of Japanese collecting that, like everything else, when you collect these wonderful items, it can be quite detailed and extensive. With that said, I really appreciate your feedback. Thank you so much, I'm onwards and upwards. Cheers Bob

Hi Jean Thank you for the information. I have not received much back about these, so I truly appreciate your enlightenment on it. I will be offering them for sale when I can figure out a pricing on them. Is there any market right now for this type of item? Again, thanks for the help, it is much appreciated. Cheers Bob
