I need money so my sword is 2400
if anybody wants it

It’s gendaito than again it depends on the smith and conditions of blade
thanks for your helpSteve

Interesting John If paint was stripped will that decrease value ?

I’m probably wrong about the type NLF but im am using the term for my question
I am looking at 3 NLF swords but this scabbard is wood I’m guessing because it was a later 1944 there was a material shortage
So does this hurt the value because it’s wood not metal? I’m surprised it didn’t have a leather cover but maybe it once did and was destroyed over time

I see some nco swords and some cavalry
I wish I could get individual pictures with information and prices There may be some good ones

Thanks to all It is what it is but still a nice sword and amazing hamon by Woody
-
Thanks for the advice and information
Because this isn’t your typical arsenal it’s hard to categorize it Thanks for your help
Steve

Thanks George I agree not traditional made with water rather oil quench however You can see the grain where it was folded I
I believe the polisher would know this since it’s his profession and is well informed He polished many swords including mine! I don’t want to keep beating a dead horse with this sword
but It’s not your typical arsenal sword
Oil quench= Folded = quality bladeNothing more I can add
It disturbs me having put this in the sell category and get others who derail my attempts to sell with wrong information

If you read the comments is not just an oily sword arsenal sword ! It was folded in the traditional sense and a quality sword
You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about I don’t care if you’re not interested
or recouping my money You’re looking in the wrong place I think you should Buy on EBay
-
I didn’t want to bring the polisher into the comments but I wanted to prove a point
I believe the polisher would know more than anyone about this sword! I know this thread has been going on for quite awhile but since I’m selling it, I want to have all the facts
I also wanted to thank everyone who participated
I probably shouldn’t have spent money for polish but because hamon is quite extraordinary i am glad I did
If anyone needs additional pictures let me know

I’m taking a huge loss but I’m gonna ask 2600 plus 100.00 shipping priority insurance

I just talked with the polisher You were right its oil quenched but because of the grains it was folded using good metals or a mixture
Brian mentioned it’s a hybrid
It’s better then your average sword in ww2 era not massed produced as Woody pointed out
Im going to try and get more pictures but it’s hard using my phone plus I waited 4 months to get it back from Woody
Woody is so backed up with orders he’s not taking any more swords so if it doesn’t sell I don’t mind keeping it
Thanks for bringing this up

True better pictures would help Yes we have been through this before than you should know it’s not oil quenched
The polisher won’t do oil quenched and if he did it would not turn out like mine I think he would know more than most people
-
Gee you figured that out all by yourself

Even an arsenal for less then 900.is probably a good price I was concerned bout the signature I didn’t know it was posted before
I should have searched it Anyway it would be a good price for someone starting out
Thanks Steve

You’re probably right
Again thanks all around for your help
must of been alot of canteens came back after the war I would think the NLF canteens would be more rare since so many ships were sunk They go for 150.00 on up depending on conditions and kanji
-
I saw this sword and can get it cheap zim concerned what the kanji says to see if it’s any known smith and what date
Thanks for all your help with translation

Good not have said it better! Now if I could sell it
The polish alone cost more than the sword
I know I can’t get what I have into it but for this price I am pretty much giving my sword for free
